Chest ultrasound examination (CUS) plays an important role in the appropriate management of pleural diseases.
CUS is routinely employed in the assessment, diagnosis and, occasionally, therapy of:
a) Empyema
b) Para-pneumonic effusions
c) Some malignant effusions, including Mesothelioma.
CUS has proved itself to be a reliable, efficient and informative imaging modality.
